Crotty Saland, LLP, has a tremendous advantage over most criminal defense firms and attorneys. Founding member, Jeremy Saland, served for more then seven years as an Assistant District Attorney in the Manhattan District Attorney's Office's Trial Division under Robert Morgenthau. Not only does this give Mr. Saland first-hand knowledge of how a prosecutor develops evidence and investigates a case, but it has also enabled us to successfully defend our clients against criminal accusations, complaints and indictments. Mr. Saland's success as a criminal defense attorney has been recognized by his associates and contemporaries in the field of criminal law and in the media. Not only have Mr. Saland's cases been featured in the news, but Mr. Saland has been sought out for his legal insight on issues ranging from police brutality and digital technology, trial and jury issues relating to the murder of Nixzmary Brown and the criminal ramifications of Natalie Dylan's multi-million dollar online auction of her virginity. Mr. Saland has also been a legal analyst in reference to the arrest of NY Giants All-Pro wide receiver Plaxico Burress for gun possession and the potential deal in that matter. Since leaving the Manhattan District Attorney's Office and before starting the firm, Mr. Saland worked as criminal defense attorney for two boutique criminal defense practices handling all levels and stages of litigation. In addition to managing the law firm, Mr. Saland is currently the treasurer of the Small Law Firm Committee of the New York City Bar and blogs for the Vault.Com, a leading online legal and attorney website.

During his time as a prosecutor in the Trial Division as well as the Identity Theft and Domestic Violence Units, Mr. Saland's responsibilities included grand jury proceedings, evidentiary hearings, trials, and supervising complex investigations. Mr. Saland has successfully prosecuted as an Assistant District Attorney and defended as a criminal defense attorney well over 1000 cases. These cases have involved the entire spectrum of crimes, from white collar offenses related to forgery, falsifying business records, identity theft and money laundering to narcotic and violent crimes including drug possession, assault, kidnapping and attempted murder.
